Jenna's 2 weeks!

Every 2 weeks, I plan to take a picture of Jenna next to her Jenna bear in the same chair always wearing a white onesie to show how much she has grown. I also plan to document her personality to see how it evolves as well. So, today is the first of the series!

At 2 weeks:
She is such a good sleeper. She loves her sleep just like her daddy. She only wakes up once or twice during the night and we've been going to bed around 10 - 10:30.
She likes to hold onto my finger while nursing.
Definitely does not like to have her diaper changed.
looks all around, seems very alert
only gets the paci at night and only as a last resort. Some nights she goes straight to sleep and we don't have to worry with it.
loves going for car rides
seems very easy-going and laid back

I know she is my 1st and I don't have anything to compare her to, but Jenna really is a dream baby at this point. I could easily have another one (not anytime soon!) but just based on her. :)

Happy REAL Birthday JM!

Jenna had to dress appropriately for Daddy's birthday today. (The onesie says, "My heart belongs to Daddy.") Sorry, they are not the best pictures, but she has been sleeping almost all day today so I woke her up to take these. And you'll notice, Max is once again by her side looking over her.
Anyway, today is officially JM's birthday. I think we have celebrated the last 7 birthdays together. And now I can say that seeing him as a daddy, I love him more than ever before. He is so sweet and good to her. I waited a long time to see this and it's all been worth the wait. :)
Happy Birthday John Michael! Here's to many, many, more birthdays celebrated together.

JM's idea

Along with the glider/rocking chair, this is the latest addition to Jenna's room. JM found the frame and completely thought of the idea and did everything all by himself. It is also in sequence too, but too hard to explain through typing. Anyway, I love it!

Max has a new love

A couple of days ago, I mentioned how Sophie and Max were kind of keeping their distance from Jenna. Well, Max is getting more and more protective of her every day. He constantly checks on her to see how she is doing and he wants to be beside her all the time. Sophie is still keeping her distance, but that's ok too. I hope that one day these two will become BFF's! :)

Happy 4th Birthday Sophie!

Even though we didn't have a fabulous b-day party like we did last year for her, and even though we're busy focusing on other things right now, I didn't forget Sophie's birthday. She is 4 today! I can't believe we've had for almost 4 years now!

As for the doggies and Jenna, we're taking it slowly. Sophie has been a lot more cautious and kept to herself a lot more, but this is the same way she was when we got Max. I think it'll just take her a bit more time and she'll come around when she's ready. Max has also been a bit cautious but today he started trying to sniff Jenna a bit more. I'm ok with that - they're going to have to get used to her and they need to take their time and still feel comfortable around here. :)

Anyway, Happy 4th Birthday Sophie! :)

Jenna's here! :)

Just a quick update :)

Jenna arrived as scheduled on Thursday, Nov. 15th. Everything went smoothly. She did have a big knot in her umbilical cord, but luckily we didn't have to worry about that.

JM's mom came on Wednesday and stayed til Sunday and my family is here through the week so we've been lucky to also have plenty of help around here which we are very appreciative of.

As for Jenna, she is such a sweet baby doll. Right now, the highlight of her day is mainly nursing, which is she is doing very well at, by the way. I can already see some of JM in her - she seems to sleep through anything and I also think she has his skin and hair, oh, and she has his widow peak as well.

We are enjoying every second with her. Stay tuned for many, many, many, more pics. :)

Happy Early B-day JM!

We're celebrating JM's birthday tomorrow since his mom will be here and I wanted to make him a little video. Also, we've just had so many good times together and as we close this chapter and start a new one, I can't wait to see just how many more good memories we will have together. He means the world to me. :)

Thankful...

As I approach the end, I have so many things to be thankful for.

  • a very easy and healthy pregnancy
  • a wonderful husband
  • our families that will both be here
  • all of our gifts we've received
  • being able to be a stay at home mommy
  • 2 very nice and great ob's.

These are just the main things that I can think of right now. I know how lucky I've had it and I am so thankful for everything. :)

Jenna's room!

A couple of disclaimers first:
These pictures were definitely not the best but I wanted to go ahead and get them up so everyone can see what we've done so far. Also, we're going to be moving again in June so we can't paint and lastly, the room isn't "completely finished." I would still like to get a rocking chair/glider and a few other things but this is it for now. And, I have to say, I really like how it looks so far!
The first picture shows the view from the doorway.
Second pic is my hospital bag, nanny's old stool, and a basket of blankets.
Third is the close up of the crib - I love it!!!
4th is changing table - Picture still needs to be hung, but I moved the table down a bit too so I'm trying to get it exactly where it needs to be first.
Next is the toy storage area and other goodies.
Last picture is the coming home/picture outfit.

Our Pre-Parenthood weekend :)

We decided that we needed to really enjoy this weekend together and live it up the best we could, so that's exactly what we did. It was officially our last weekend together "pre-parenthood" because next weekend JM has to work so that pratically takes up any time together next weekened.
On Friday, we went to the Olive Garden and ate and then just went around town for a bit.
On Saturday, we had tons of fun! We went to the USS Lexington museum http://www.usslexington.com and then next door to the aquarium. After the aquarium, we went to the marina and walked around a bit and then went to eat at Joe's Crab shack. Needless to say, I was exhausted by the time we came home!
On Sunday, we went to church. The church is actually .02 miles from our house and I just discovered it a couple of weeks ago. What's really neat about this one is that it's an open air outside one. I've never seen anything like it before here. It had that laid back casual kind of feel to it. And then later that day, we went to the National Seashore and took a couple of photos together.
So, we really had a great weekend! :)

Random Photography & stuff....

I've recently been inspired to start taking photos again so I thought I would post some that I took the other day. I still want to get better at it and do it as a hobby. Now, if only I could get my scrapbooking mojo back....

I love these pictures of Max and the book. When I saw this book, I knew I had to get it!

The windowsill is a little piece of Nanny in Jenna's room.

The other weird thingy is just something neat I saw in the backyard on the side I hardly ever go to.

I'm definitely hoping to start taking more pics after Jenna gets here and sticking with it this time around!

It's NOVEMBER?!?!?!!!!!

Oh my gosh...it's actually November now.... This month has been the one that I thought wouldn't actually ever get here and now it's here. This year has been a roller coaster of a ride with several life-changing events - obviously me getting pregnant, JM graduating, losing Nanny and moving down here - that this will be the light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak. Whitney told me that Jenna will be the best thing that happens this year, and she is completely right. We're ready for her - we're ready to move on with this next chapter in our lives - although I'm still scared about everything - I know we're ready. If we couldn't handle this, it wouldn't be happening. :)

I bought Dreft today so I'm about to go start washing the mountain of baby clothes that we've accumulated. There are a ton of other things I need to do as well, but hopefully, this is the nesting period that is finally kicking in. :)
