day 57

Last night, after Jenna went to sleep and the dogs went to bed (they go to bed without us now!) JM worked on his slideshow for his parents and I decided to tackle this litle project I had been wanting to do. JM was listening to Michael Bubble and I was sitting next to him at the dining room table and it was just such a good time - us working independently side by side while still sharing our time together. I love those little moments like that.

Anyway, see all of the gorgeous buttons? Those were Nanny's. She really had the prettiest and most unique buttons I've ever seen. They by far surpass the expensive scrapbook buttons. This was really one of the neatest things she ever gave me. And of course, since they were hers, this just makes it even more special. I'm sure there were tons of stories behind all those buttons (I still have a lot more) and it would have been neat to know what all the buttons were for, if the clothing was worn for special occasions, where they were purchased, etc...

And as far as the other things, I got the case display on clearance at Michael's from Martha Stewart collection. And the J is just a scrapbook letter.

I really need help on hanging it. The bow kept coming undone as soon as I tried to hang it up. Anyone have any ideas for how to hang it better? Or if I should take off the ribbon completely and just find another way?

I really think it's cute and I actually like something I made for a change. :)

I love that, it is too cute. I love the bow!! Maybe if you got a needle and thread and kind of sewed the bow together it would stay? What about those white hook things that are plastic then you can hang misc stuff on. I think they come in different sizes. Wish I could help more, but I am not very creative!!!

This is SO cute! I love the ribbon, but don't have other ideas on how to hang it.

Maybe use some wire to hang it and cover the wire with the ribbon?

That is so cute and special. I love having moments like that with Robert. Like when he ties his fishing flies and I knit.

I love the button collage. That is great!

I would suggest either wire covered with ribbon, or you could try just ribbon and then hot glue a bow at the top to finish it. I wouldn't suggest actually trying to tie a bow. I love the buttons though.

Allison, that is beautiful!!! You did a great job. You may want to try to attach the ribbon on both sides, with no bow on top. It would hang just from the loop of the ribbon (that's probably as clear as mud :-)

Great job though! Jenn

I read in Martha Stewart that she loves to hang pictures the same way but she actually fakes it. Instead of hanging the picture by the actual ribbon, she hangs the picture with a nail and then attaches the ends of the ribbon to the back of the picture (hot glue?) to give the same effect. You can tie the bow and sew or hot glue it together permanently and then attach the ends to the back of the frame.

Did I ramble enough for you?

Whit :)
