JM and I went to the home and garden expo here because I knew Frank was going to be there and I really wanted to see him. Apparently, he's from Texas and really enjoys this area down here.
He spoke for about an hour and ten minutes and was really funny and very down to earth and just a very "real" kind of guy. He talked mostly about the show and life in general more than about decorating. He said that homes should be comfortable and functional. And more importantly, he talked about sharing the spaces with the ones you love. He even has a couple of dogs that they decorated around. And he told us a sad story, about how he had a daughter that was killed in a car accident and the day before, she came to him and asked him to help her do something and he really wanted to tell her no, but he said he had a voice that kept telling him to just do it and he did - and of course he was so glad that he spent the time with her. It was really kind of sad - but his point was to just enjoy the time with the people around you. He was really a good speaker.

That's SO awesome! And kind of funny. I have ALWAYS said that if I were doing the show, I would want Laurie or Doug to do MY house and I would want Frank to do the other house...so I could work with him! He seems like such a fun guy!
What a fun picture! It's so cool that he took the time to take that pic with you. I love it when "celebrities" are like that.
that's cool that you got to meet him!
I always thought he was gay....and now I stand corrected...or at least, he had a daugher.
I love Frank! That's so cool you got to meet him! And that's a great picture! :)
How fun!!! He's my favorite! How cool is it that he was a first grade teacher?
Thanks for leaving me a comment!
I love trading spaces - neat that you met Frank! I met Genevieve once - I have a picture with her! :-)
I'm so freakin jealous!! I love him!! I'm like Christy...I'd want to work with him but I wouldn't want him near mine! :)
