Jenna at naptime

John Michael and I both have pictures of when we were little sleeping with our glo-worms, so of course Jenna had to have one too!
I'm getting good at knowing when she is tired and wants a nap before she actually falls asleep. I can put her in the crib awake and then she falls asleep on her own (which I'm very proud of by the way!) But before she falls asleep at naptime, she usually takes the paci and I play some type of music (glo-worm, mobile, projector thingy, or aquarium.) She doesn't get the music at most bedtimes though. (I really want her to be able to fall asleep naturally on her own - without any "help.")

And a little bit later, I went back in and found her like this. She always spits the paci out and moves things around or kicks off the blanket. (And no, she doesn't get the blanket at night either.) Doesn't she look so sweet sleeping? :)

falling asleep on their own is a HUGE step and a great skill.

for months and months i had no idea that catie sucked her thumb. that was her method of self-soothing only at bedtime.

my ped told me that learning to self-soothe and put one's self to sleep is an essential survival skill. and believe me, when she is a toddler, you will be VERY GRATEFUL for a kid who can put herself to sleep! :)

Congratulations! That's a huge step!

We both had glo-worms too. I probably still have mine in a box somewhere!
