I found the neatest blog - Make and Take - with tons of neat ideas for teachers, anyone who works with kids, and basically anyone who has kids! Some of my favorite ideas are "painting" toast, freezing toys in water, storytime ideas, etc...
But my most favorite idea has got to be the chunky crayons. While teaching kindergarten last year, I threw a way a ton of those little broken crayons. I really couldn't stand those little parts and I was always the teacher that gave out new crayons a lot. So you take your old broken crayons, put them in a muffin tin, and bake them into swirly chunky crayons!! Now seriously, I could have done that and I'm sure my kids would have gotten a kick out of that! So...*cough*cough*Whitney* you should try this one and let me know if you do it! :)

It's such a freaking cute idea! I'm going to grab everyone's stubs and make the chunks to give as summer presents for my kids! I'll let you know how they turn out!
You can also use cutesy little shaped mini-muffin tins. I have a heart-shaped one that does cute crayons!
Cool idea!
I am going to have to check out that blog for when I have my own classroom!! Thanks for passing it along!!
I'm suprised you'd never done this! Its a great idea though- maybe I'll use it next year once I start working in the schools :)
My mom did this when we were little- it does work and I thought they were the neatest crayons!
I've done this several times and it is great! The kiddos I worked with loved them!
