Meal ideas?

I think Jenna is finally past the baby puree foods. We've started doing a lot of the gerber graduates. I think I'll finish up the rest of the baby food in the cabinets and then we're done with those. She still really eats just about anything put in front of her and of course, she'll still try and eat paper if you aren't watching her. (Seriously, this kid is something!) So, I need some meal ideas. I think I have enough snack ideas (she loves these gerber puffs that are in the picture.) But for dinner lately, she has been getting lots of different types of pasta lately. If we also eat carrots or green beans, then I'll give her some of those too. And I can't forget the bread. So what else I can give her? She has 8 teeth (in case anyone asks.) I would love any ideas!

maybe she's getting old enough for chicken nuggets? i think there's all sorts of ways to make the breading healthy. and maybe some home fries or sweet potato fries? homemade mac and cheese. scrambled eggs and homemade french toast sticks which again you can make with healthy ingredients hidden in it. all kinds of yummy junk! LOL jenna is getting so big and just precious as always!

Heather provided some really good ideas, but I would add....give her anything that YOU guys are eating, just cut up into waaay smaller pieces. Tortillas were a tummy-pleaser for us as well as any kind of beans (okay, so you do have to remember that Josiah is 1/2 Mexican-hehe). Josiah never enjoyed the Gerber Graduates because they don't have a lot of flavor...I would skip those all together and make the "Allison-version" of the Graduates...then you know what Jenna is actually putting in her belly. ;-)

I would just keep giving her what you are eating. Just make sure you break it up and supervise her. And don't be shy about stuff that is seasoned, as long as it is not hot. Keep introducing lots of new flavors, and even if she doesn't eat it the first time, try multiple times after. Don't make the mistake I have made and think that kids eat "kid food" b/c then you will have a 4 year old who only eats mac & cheese and pbj. Ugh!!

We did the Gerber Graduate meals too, but they are so expensive (and processed). For lunch, I would do things like ham/turkey roll-ups or finger sandwiches, fresh fruit (cut up), and veggies with dip. For dinners, if we're having something that is ok for a small child to eat, then I just cut it up and serve him that (pasta dishes, dishes or soups made with burger). If it's something that is not ok for a child to eat (steak, etc..) then I will make him chicken nuggets, with mac and cheese, and fruit. You just have to get creative!

The only Gerber Graduates that we actually gave Lily are those pasta pick up things (raviolis) and she still eats them and loves them. I started by cutting them up but she eats them whole now. She loves grilled cheese and pizza too. French toast, waffles, pancakes are all good and a pizza cutter makes it so much easier to cut everything up. Sometimes she will eat chicken nuggets it depends on her mood. She loves ground beef for some reason, she loves taco night and she pulls all the pieces of meat out of the spaghetti.
