I think it's tooth time!!!

Yesterday, I noticed her bottom front gum area was looking different.
Today, I stuck my finger in there (several times) and I can feel the start of a bottom tooth!

Now, I know it's only the beginning and I've heard it takes a really long time for it to come through, but this next chapter should be interesting!

Starting to get sad again...

Remember a couple of weeks ago, when I said I saw a Tulsa car on the road? Well crazy things - it turns out we know the girl! She used to date one of JM's med school friends and is working here as a traveling PT. So, there was a drug rep dinner tonight so we invited her along.

We went to the same place last June for another drug rep dinner. It's at a pizza place. We just so happened to sit at the table in front of the Budweiser sign so I thought we should do before and after pics. Because before I was pregnant and now we have Jenna for the pics. (Oh, and it's not like we really were wanting the Big Budweiser sign in the background - but there are beer signs everywhere.) :) But, I digress...

Wow - I really need to cut my hair.

And the other wives + hopefully the other T-town girl and I made lunch plans for Friday. And then of course JM and I were talking about how sad it is to leave them again. Yes, we're excited to go somewhere new, but we were talking about how nice everyone is here and we hope that we can make those kinds of friendships again in KC. Hopefully at least we'll keep in touch somehow. :)

Sunday

Yesterday was just a lazy Sunday for Jenna and me. JM was on call. The doggies chewed on their bones (Sophie was in the picture, but left after I got out the camera.) And Jenna played in her little play area in the living room. And you can see just how lazy we were by looking at Jenna's outfit. Lazy days are good though. :)

With and Without Jenna

Well our day started out as normal - out for lunch, run errands and do whatever on a typical Saturday. JM actually went into the grocery store with me today. We both hate grocery shopping, but I really don't mind it as much when he goes in with me. I think maybe he also realized why I don't take Jenna into this grocery store. It's just too hard right now with the car seat - it doesn't fit right on front top seats of these carts - it's just too wobbly for me to feel comfortable with her up there and if I put it in the cart it takes up the whole space. So, needless to say, we both got our own buggies. I think I'll probably just have to start wearing her in there until she is able to sit up on her own.

And then later that that - we had our very own date night without Jenna! Our very good friends called last night and offered to keep her for us so we could go out. So our first stop was putt-putt. JM beat me by 2 measly points!

And then we went to Docs - this is a restaurant that we always drive by as we are passing over the bridge. We always said we were going to go try it so I suggested it for tonight. It was really a neat place! It sits upon the water and most of it is open so you can look out onto the water if you don't get a table right by the railing part - if that makes any sense. :) And I had to get a picture of the dr. by the docs sign.....hehehehe...I thought of that one all by myself. :)

Our waitress was so sweet - she noticed our camera and asked if we wanted a picture together. She asked if it was a special occasion and I told her what we were doing - but honestly we should have also told her we take the camera everywhere.

We were sitting one table away from this - so we were kind of "inside" but still had that outside view because it was open. Also, I don't know if you can see but there were signs everywhere that said, "Please do not feed the seagulls." I can't tell you how much I hate those birds. There were also pieces of wire up to discorage them from coming in - although a few brave birds did try but got shushed out. Thankfully, there were not any birds that came in our direction because I don't know if I could have stayed. :)

It was a really fun night and I'm really glad we had the chance to just go out by ourselves. Even though Jenna is still small and easy to take out right now, it was still nice. I think we both realize how important it is to still make time for just each other so I honestly hope that we'll have more date nights in our future. :)

I'm so bad lately...

Ok, I have no idea why the picture is not rotated right. On the folder view, it looks right. But like this post, I'm too lazy to do anything about it.
So, I've been bad about cooking lately. I think spaghetti was the last thing I really put any effort into and that's been a couple of weeks back. Lately, it's been whatever is the easiest and tonight it was boxed lasagna. I need to get better at this - but honestly it's just not something I enjoy doing all that much.
So, what do you do when you're in a cooking slump? Or can I just hire you to come to my house and start cooking for us? :)

whats going on...

Sorry, I'm losing my blogging spirit lately. At least, the pics are still holding me accountable. :)

Jenna has been getting a ton of fan mail lately. Yesterday, she got something from both her Nana (my mom) and her grand-dude (JM's dad.) She got the cute little baby gap 6-12 month clothes from my mom and the funny saying tee shirts from JM's dad. It's kind of funny when you think about it because you can see both of their personalities being represented here. :)

And, I've starting looking for houses again online. I've looked through various realtors and my favorite place now to look is Craigslist. It's just easier there really. We have just a tad over 2 more months here. Isn't that crazy? And what's really sad is that I've just started hanging out with the other wives and now we'll all be leaving in our separate ways. Today the 3 of us went to lunch together and I'm really hoping we can make it a weekly event until we move. It's sad to think about always saying good-bye to someone.

In honor of Earth day...

Since it's Earth day today, I thought I'd blog about our new cloth diapers. :) Here are some disposable diaper facts for your enjoyment...

No one knows how long it takes for a disposable diaper to decompose, but it is estimated to be about 250-500 years, long after your children, grandchildren and great, great, great grandchildren will be gone.

Disposable diapers are the third largest single consumer item in landfills, and represent about 4% of solid waste. In a house with a child in diapers, disposables make up 50% of household waste.

Disposable diapers generate sixty times more solid waste and use twenty times more raw materials, like crude oil and wood pulp.
Over 300 pounds of wood, 50 pounds of petroleum feedstocks and 20 pounds of chlorine are used to produce disposable diapers for one baby EACH YEAR.

Disposable diapers contain traces of Dioxin, an extremely toxic by-product of the paper-bleaching process. It is a carcinogenic chemical, listed by the EPA as the most toxic of all cancer-linked chemicals. It is banned in most countries, but not the U.S..

Disposable diapers contain Tributyl-tin (TBT) - a toxic pollutant known to cause hormonal problems in humans and animals.

Disposable diapers contain sodium polyacrylate, a type of super absorbent polymer (SAP), which becomes a gel-like substance when wet. A similar substance had been used in super-absorbancy tampons until the early 1980s when it was revealed that the material increased the risk of toxic shock syndrome.

Also, most seem to cause diaper rash. Our cloth diapers are extremely cute and I KNOW I can re-sell them on the cloth diapering sites to someone else. Can you do that with disposables?? HMM....NO! So, these are just a win-win for us.

Also, I think most people are scared of washing them and taking care of them. They are so much easier than I ever thought! Wash them in cold rinse, hot wash with Tide w/dawn, and cold rinse again and then just put them in the dryer. And seriously, we've had some messy diapers and the stains come right out and they end up looking brand new again! It really is that easy!

This might just be my favorite so far. It might be the one I have to keep forever and just can't sell. It is soooo cute!

My mom got Jenna this t-shirt and I think it just so happens to match perfectly with her knit soakers. Some diapers require some type of cover (although we don't always wear one everytime) but these shorts are made for just that. They are very absorbant and not to mention as cute as can be!

Our weekend trip pics

We had a really great weekend! JM has been wanting to go take pictures of the bluebonnets - apparently, that is a big deal here in TX, everyone goes and gets there pictures taken in the bluebonnet fields - I would have never have known that until living here. But anyway, we decided to go to Fredericksburg, TX - and the area known as "hill country." Fredericksburg is a small town (pop 8911), but it was a really cute town.
They had some fabulous shopping on this Main street area. It was really neat because there were tons of people around that area and Friday night we got there just in time to go walk along the streets and eat over there. This first picture is the shopping area. I love taking picures of JM taking pictures, if you haven't noticed. :)

On Saturday morning, we went back so we could actually go in some of the stores that were closed on Friday night. I FINALLY used my Ergo baby carrier - omigosh, why haven't I used this before? It was so nice not to have to worry about navigating a big ole stroller through the small stores and Jenna even fell asleep in it for a while. And not to mention, it was also comfortable!!!!

On Saturday afternoon, we headed out to our main destination - WildSeed Farms - this place was absolutely gorgeous! Southern Living magazine named it one of the top ten Texas garden centers. What's ironic is that we went for bluebonnet pics - but we ended up seeing even prettier flowers so we took pictures with those instead. They even had a little butterfly garden area. It was so pretty!

And then Saturday night, JM wanted to see what the Willow City Loop (also part of the hill country) was all about. It's a 13 mile circle that you can see the hills below and drives through people's ranches. We kept seeing signs that said "loose livestock" and finally we got to see what that meant! We saw a bull, tons of cows, and even a pretty dear all from our car window. And yes, they were that close!

On Sunday, we had to say goodbye to our pretty hotel room. We both loved this sink so I had to take a picture of it. We also even put Jenna in it for a bath on both nights!

And then on Sunday, we decided to go back to Wildseed to try and take a couple of more pictures. These flowers are Larkspurs and they were absolutely beautiful. Hopefully, JM will post a bunch of his pics or I'll try and post some more here too because you have to see just how pretty they were!

little moments like this...

I bought chocolate milk today at Target.

JM: hands me his glass of chocolate milk. "Want a sip?"
me: oooohhh...you found the milk!
JM: yes, because it was so cleverly hidden in the fridge.

and then we both cracked up. I love the way he can always seem to make me laugh over even the silliest things. :)

Jenna's 22 week jenna bear pic!

Jenna's 1st jenna bear pic at 2 weeks
My baby is getting too big! :(

At 22 weeks (just a little over 5 months),
*we have started using cloth diapers and I love them!
*she is getting so close to rolling over. I really thought she was going to do it today but it seems like every time I start cheering for her, she stops.
*I'm afraid to jinx myself - but I think she is finally consistenly sleeping through the nights now.
*started eating rice cereal and baby food. She seems to like to eat about anything so far.
*loves to laugh at the doggies when they are running around. (It's really the cutest thing ever!)

I think it's way past time for this little guy to go. I can't believe I left it in this long! Farewell little snowman! I'm sure I'll get sick of seeing you next year!

Finally a little more hair!

Because yall never see the back side of her! :)

I think my mom asked me about her hair last night, so I thought I'd try to take a picture of her from the back today so you can see that she is finally starting to grow a little bit more hair. I really think she is going to have JM's hair - which honestly I think his hair is so much more prettier than mine - it's super silky, but it's also a lot finer and thinner. I just want her to be able to wear bows! Is that too much to ask??!?! :)

And no, she's not really a side sleeper.

playing catch-up

Saturday - We had a garage sale in the morning with the L family and then after a couple of hours back home we went back out with them to this go-kart place.

Sunday - Jenna is getting to be so much fun! We have started "playing." Although everything just seems to wind up in her mouth. I have started keeping toys in the basket in the living room because that is where we play the most. I have also started rotating her toys every week and I really think I will always rotate her toys from now on!

Monday - I got Jenna's 2 cloth diapers (Goodmama's) in the mail today! These babies are so thick it's unbelievable! I'm excited about doing this now and I wish I would have started earlier. I just need JM to share in my enthusiasm! :)

Laundry overload!

It seems like if I don't do a load of laundry a day, then it gets on overload! Now in my defense, we are having a garage sale tomorrow and well I've been looking at all the gorgeous cloth diapers online.

photo 101 - cute ladybug bowls

Another crappy pic day - I'm just not in the mood to take pics today, but I am in the mood to show yall these!

I've been eyeing these cute ladybug bowls at Target for a couple of weeks now. We really don't "need" them now, but I figured if they ever went on clearance, that would be my excuse to get them! And guess what? Yep, they were on clearance today for 30% off! I know it's silly, but I love my clearance finds at Target! :)

What Have I gotten myself into?

Jenna in her Fuzzi Bunz cloth diaper. I bought a couple of Fuzzi Bunz last summer before she was born. I started thinking that I'm not going to use them so I might as well as sell them, but today, I thought I might as well give them a try.
Now, I'm scared that I may not go back to disposables. This one is so luxuriously soft and I think it looks so much more comfortable than the disposables. AACCKK - what am I going to do with all the disposable ones I stocked up on during all those CVS sales? But, really, I might have just made the switch. :)

photo 99 - Please let us in!

Since having the doggies, this is the first backyard we've had and it is so nice just to put them outside for a bit. But they always come back to the door just like this. They just aren't outside doggies!
