Walgreens today!

I hardly ever shop at Walgreens. (I'm still very loyal to CVS) But I got a $10 off $30 coupon, and how could I resist that? Plus they had this formula on sale! So I got all of this that you see for $19.70!!!! Now, if I would have been smart enough - I would have realized that this was a great stock-up opportunity and I would have printed out more coupons and done this at different stores. Because this is the cheapest I've ever gotten formula and those teething tabs were $6 as well!
Plus, I had to go to CVS to get Jenna's prescription (for her head) and I was able to get another $25 gift card!!
Anyway, I was very excited about my deals, so I had to share with yall!
And plus, I should mention that JM also completed his boards test today -- YAY!!!!! (now, too bad he's on call tomorrow.)

Discovering the spoon

Jenna usually swats at the spoon, but I've never let her have it until last night. It kept her occupied for a little bit while I was able to get the bath ready and she was one happy camper, as you can see. :)

The day with Jenna

Jenna had her 6 month shots/visit today. She weighs 16 lbs and is 27 inches. She is in the 90th percentile for length so she is still above average in the height department. It'll be interesting to see just how tall she gets. So, as we were waiting, she has this new favorite game she likes. Basically, I dangle a blanket over her head and she reaches for it and laughs.

And then later tonight, we went to see Daddy at the hospital. He has been studying there every night for his boards on Friday. We can not wait for Friday to be over!

And yes, I'm serious about her wearing bows now. Surely, no one will call her a boy now, let's hope, anyway.... :)

Why I always have a camera with me....

Eva Longoria was here last night working at Wendy's. I went to McDonalds. My camera went to McDonald's with me. But not Eva Longoria. :(

Things I'll miss...

Yep, another drive by pic. So moving on....:)

I remember blogging about leaving Tulsa and making a list of things I'll miss - so this is round 2. In no particular order, here they are:

  • the people, definitely the people we've come to know
  • getting to say I live across the street from a beach
  • getting to say I live on an island
  • the palm trees
  • having a CVS around the corner (ha!)
  • not being able to show Jenna the house she was brought home to.
  • the backyard for the doggies
  • only having to buy one season clothing (it made it easier to buy Jenna a size ahead clothes.)
  • driving past the water and seeing the people fish (and wondering why they are standing in the water instead of just getting in a boat....it's a constant thought.)
  • the once upon a child that doesn't know the boutique brands (but thinks gymbo is...)

I just asked JM what he was going to miss and he said - the people. That's all he could come up with. :)

Ice here....Seriously???

So yesterday, I was driving to Sonic and I realized that there has been this sign that I've been wanting to take a picture of forever. It seriously cracks me up. So, excuse the bad pic, but I took it while I was driving....(yes, I know I shouldn't but it wasn't a busy street at the time....) Anyway, if you can't read it, it says, "Watch for Ice on Bridge." I think it's the only sign like this of its kind here. If you don't know, I live in south Texas - these poor kids don't know what it's like to have a snow day, let alone, ICE??? Seriously, the coldest it got here was maybe in the 50's. This is going to sound crazy - but I'm actually ready to see some snow and ice again - I wouldn't want to live in this heat forever.

sleepy baby

I've been taking lots of pictures of Jenna asleep lately. But I can't help it. She is just so cute when she sleeps. And lately, since she's figured out she can move around more, she hasn't been sleeping on her back. I catch mostly on her side and sometimes on her stomach (although I still don't think she likes it that much.) I just love this one of her little arm draped over her glo-worm.

I promise - she's really a girl.

Excuse the yucky spit up - this pic was taken really quick in between coming home and having to go back out.

Anyway, apparently, I really attract the crazies around here. I thought it was only when I was pregnant that people came up to me and said the strangest things, but nope - having Jenna actually here is about the same. So yesterday I was in Wal-Mart, with Jenna wearing this outfit, and two different women, in completely different places in Wal-Mart, both said something about her being a boy. Seriously, she was dressed in a purple outfit with flowers on it. And this wasn't the first time it's happened - she's also been called a boy with a hot pink blanket draped around her. I just don't get it. If you really don't know the gender of a baby, then just don't say anything at all. Heck, don't even come up to me and talk to me OR HER. Sigh....I guess I will be buying her lots more bows from now on. And if someone calls her a boy and she's wearing a frickin bow, then just watch out!!!!!!

Yes, I still love the doggies.

I don't think I've taken a pic of the doggies in such a long time so this one is for them. I just thought it was cute both of them licking my jello cheesecake cup. I still love the doggies very much!

Freebies!

Woot-Woot!! Look at my freebies I got in the mail today! I think this is the best freebie in the mail thing I've ever gotten! (2nd best was my Bauch & Lomb contact solution kit and 12 cases) And that's 5 $1 off coupons for Aveeno too! I'm so excited about this stuff - it has sunscreen in it too, which will be great for summer! I *heart* Aveeno!!!

the one month countdown begins...

Exactly one month from today we will be moving! I'm almost a little embarrassed to share this picture - but whatever - half of yall are moving too so I'm sure you understand :)

This is the side of our garage. We kept all of the moving boxes and packing materials from last year since we knew we would be moving again and now more than ever, I'm so glad we did. I'm so glad not to have to go looking for boxes.

Anyway, since this starts the one month countdown I thought I should get busy today. Last year, I waited until the last minute and then I had to go out of town so we could be with Nanny and I didn't get back home until the night before we moved, therefore JM was left with a bunch of stuff to do on his own - so this year, I'm starting earlier as a "just in case."

So today's goal was to just get all the stuff that is already packed and separate it out and put it in a corner. I think tomorrow I will start on Jenna's room and after that, I don't know. The bad part about packing is that I always feel like I'm going to need the stuff and don't want to pack anything away. Anyway, hopefully by posting here, I'll have to update my progress as well. :)

I actually cooked tonight

Alert the authorities - I actually did something more than just heat something up tonight.
My mom got me an "Easy Meals" Cookbook and I used it. This is called Spaghetti Pizza - although it's probably just a lot more liked baked spaghetti.
Spaghetti Pizza
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
thin or angel hair pasta, cooked
spaghetti sauce
1lb ground beef
1 package of shredded cheese
Preheat oven to 350. Mix milk and egg and toss with spaghetti. Spread pasta in sprayed 9x13 baking pan. Top with spaghetti sauce. Crumble meat on top. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake for 30 minutes.

Beach, Boards, and my bug

On Saturday, Jenna and I went to the beach with some of the other people. This is her screaming because the water was coming towards her.

JM is now studying for his boards test on May 30th.

And since the other 2 pictures started with a b, (and well, let's face it - I didn't have anything else to take a picture of today) this is my bug. I'd much rather have something else now.

just waiting...

I know the half sign pic looks funny but I did it that way to cut off the name and phone number. :)

Last night, I saw the sign in our yard. I guess the owners are already trying to find someone new for our house. However, this kind of reminds me of when you're at a restaurant and you just get your food and then they bring over your ticket before you are even done. Know what I mean? Or does that only make sense in my crazy head?
Anyway, at this moment I feel like we are just waiting to move now. A lot of my life I've felt like I've always been just waiting to get to the next thing. From waiting to be in the same town with JM, for summer to start and school to end, having Jenna, and now moving on to the next place. (Yes, there are tons more examples of my just waiting list, but I'm not posting them all.) And I think we've decided on June 21st as our move date, so for the next month I'll just be waiting on it to get here...

Jenna's 6 mos Jenna bear pic

Jenna is 6 months! Can you believe it? I can't. I miss my teensy weensy baby but yet at the same time, I look forward to her getting bigger and doing new things. I really love her more and more every day. So here's what's new in Jenna's world:
At 24 weeks (6 mos)
  • she has started blowing raspberries. (It's really the cutest thing ever.)
  • likes toys that spin.
  • is extremely sociable and happy to see people.
  • can fully roll over now. (only seems to do this in the crib though.)
  • naps seem to be shorter lately.

Make and Take Blog

I found the neatest blog - Make and Take - with tons of neat ideas for teachers, anyone who works with kids, and basically anyone who has kids! Some of my favorite ideas are "painting" toast, freezing toys in water, storytime ideas, etc...

But my most favorite idea has got to be the chunky crayons. While teaching kindergarten last year, I threw a way a ton of those little broken crayons. I really couldn't stand those little parts and I was always the teacher that gave out new crayons a lot. So you take your old broken crayons, put them in a muffin tin, and bake them into swirly chunky crayons!! Now seriously, I could have done that and I'm sure my kids would have gotten a kick out of that! So...*cough*cough*Whitney* you should try this one and let me know if you do it! :)

Lunch date

I went to lunch today with Anabeth and Cindi. Ironically, Anabeth and her husband, Kyle, lived in KC for med school. Kyle will also be doing pm&r (same thing JM is.) And Cindi's husband, Bryce, will be doing radiology in OKC for OU. We all have about a month to go before we go our separate ways. A MONTH and a couple of days!!! Crazy talk.....but anyway, I'm so glad that at least I got to know these two just a little bit better before it's all said and done. :)

We're on a break...

If you haven't already noticed, the Nikon and I are on a little break from one another. (except for auto-mode pics). I started my daily photo resolution in an attempt to improve my photography skills. I've even joined 2 photography sites in an effort to learn something. I have a husband who is obsessed with photography. I have a plethora of books available at my fingertips. But let's face it - if I really wanted to have learned something more by now, then I would have. I definitely haven't made it a priority - but I'm ok with that. I don't think this kind of photography is my thing really. Maybe I'll try again later, but right now, I'm really having fun just taking pictures with my new point and shoot camera and documenting our everyday lives. I've also (re-)learned how much fun it is to take your camera everywhere and not be afraid to take pictures in public!

Yummy!

Nothing like fresh oven baked cookies in the middle of a Monday afternoon. Now, if only Jenna were old enough to help me eat them. :)

Happy Mother's Day!

A couple of weeks ago, we were strolling through Best Buy and I saw all of the new pink (and other colored) cameras on display. I told JM in my whiniest, most obnoxious voice that I wanted a pink camera!!
Well last night at midnight, he came and woke me up and said that I have to come and see Jenna. (I knew she was still asleep, but whatever...) So, I put on my glasses and went into her room. In the crib right next to her, was a little present. So, I opened it and he got me a pink camera and the matching case!
I'm so excited because now I can always carry a camera with me. JM has been taking the other point & shoot to work with him and the Nikon is to big to really take anywhere. So, I love it! He did good! I really don't feel like I really deserve a mother's day present anyway - only 6 mos into it!
So, Happy Mother's day to my mom and all the other mom's out there! And for all the moms/women that also have a hard time with this day - thinking of you as well. :)

overheated

We were on our way to meet up with friends at a baseball game all the way across town tonight. About 5 minutes away from actually getting there, I say something about the air not feeling like it's working. And then we see smoke coming from the hood. So we decided that we better turn around because we didn't want to get stuck all the way over there. And there is nothing like riding with your heat turned on in 90 degree weather. And then we decided that maybe we shouldn't try to make it to our house since we live on the island and have to drive over a bridge. So long story short, we left it at the hospital and Bryce came to pick us up. :(

goin' out

On Thursday, we had lunch with Anabeth and then went to the hospital for a little bit. So, of course I like to dress her up. :)
Thanks to Cindi, for the cute bow! :)
Friday's pic isn't even worth posting - I took a picture of the clock at 10 pm last night because it was the latest I had ever waited to take a pic so far.

What I know as of right now...

  • I can go 12 hours without internet. (The internet on the computer I usually use is gone right now - but it works on the "big mac." Hence, no pics until we figure it out...)
  • I love being a stay at home mom, but it can get lonely.
  • I need to put myself out there more.
  • I wished I would have gotten together with the other girls a lot earlier than now.
  • I will always love thrift stores and the sense of peace they bring to me.
  • I really should stop talking about my free CVS deals so people don't think I'm a crazy psycho.
  • I really, really, really love JM even throughout all of his stuff everywhere.
  • I'm really excited about our new place, but sad to leave these people.
  • I'm completely full of random thoughts at any given moment, but keep most all of them to myself.
  • Jenna is the most amazing little creature.

kinda boring here

Yesterday, JM was on call so I had McDonald's for dinner. If my calendar is correct, he only has 4 more call days left. YAY!

Jenna is getting so close to fully rolling over. I think that one arm always gets in the way (like the way she is laying on top of it in the pic) and I don't think she really enjoys being on her tummy that much anyway. But today, when I went to check on her during her nap, I found her like this. She's never done it in the crib. She stayed like that for a while too - (I definitely wasn't touching her!)
