more car issues...

I was so excited about our busy and fun day today - we were going to meet lunch with a gymboree friend, then go to gymboree class, and then after nap, we had an afternoon playdate at 3. I got us ready and Jenna looking all cute and I put her in the carseat and I hear a clicking noise. I'm trying to ignore it and figure everything is ok, but then I try to start the car and it won't start - nothing even happens, just more of the clicking noise....

I came in so aggravated, so frustrated, so worried and just mad that our day was now going to consist of staying at home. Of all days, today of course, would be the day. However, I'm not sure what happened, but I then suddenly began thinking and my thought process quickly changed.
I'm thankful that:
  • we weren't out anywhere when it decided not to start.
  • I didn't have to go anywhere important (like a job or the dr.) just silly playdates and such....
  • this car is paid for and has lasted as long as it has!
  • and I'm glad I remember JM back when he first got it and how he never allowed anyone to eat or drink in his car! (ha! now!) (oh, this was back in 96 too.)
  • really, it's just a car - cars can be fixed.

It's JUST a car. Worse times have come our way. Today one of our friends lost her father, and of course, there is Baby Stellan, if you don't know about him. So, I'm sure there are more people out there that are really having worse days than I am. It's JUST a car.

A Snowy Saturday!

For the last week, I've heard on the news about how much snow we were supposed to get today. They said it would be snowing by the time everyone woke up and we could get 2 inches an hour for a total of 8 -12 inches. So, the first thing I did this morning was look out and guess what? No snow! It didn't start snowing until about 1 pm and we didn't get near as much as what I had thought. I think Tulsa probably got more snow than we did! (I'm not sure how much we got, but I'd say not over 2 inches, maybe?)

Anyway, while Jenna napped today I made sugar cookies (my fave!) - I used my cute cookie cutters, but honestly it didn't seem to matter - they expanded in the over and don't look anything like the cute ones here, and then I put strawberry frosting and sprinkles on them, so you really can't even tell what they are.

I made Jenna a couple of mini cookies. (I really should have just made them all this small, because they are all really sugary!) So, this is her first sugar cookie (and yes, JM is video-ing it.) She was fascinated by trying to take off all the little sprinkles and just eat those. She eventually ate the cookie and I think she liked it!

And later we took her out in the snow. This is what she thought of it. I think she really wants to move back to the beach!

And then she was pointing at it and trying to catch a snowflake!

Now, I'm hoping that next weekend is sunny and 80 degrees. One can always hope right?

Grey's Anatomy and Doctor Stuff!

I'm so excited about tonight's episode of Grey's. I've been looking forward to it all day! I'm hoping that Izzy doesn't die. And I'm wondering what's going to happen with Christina and that new doctor. I think Grey's is definitely my favorite non-reality show! Does anyone else love it as much as I do?

****************

And while we're on the topic of doctors - I'm also on this new blog. I'm not sure how much I'll post there, but it's good to know there is a whole other network of people like me. So, if you are married to a doctor, or a doctor, or just whatever, feel free to check it out. :)

A couple of other blogs:

The Secret Lives of Doctors Wives - This one definitely looks interesting. The author is Gail Konop Baker and she has published a book.

Finding Equanimity - I meant to link her awhile back and I don't think I have yet. Sorry B!

It must be wedding season...

Over the last 2 months or so, we've gotten 4 wedding invites (3 are the save the date magnets here.) (Oh, and JM took the b/w pic in the middle!)

We never did a save the date magnet or card. Did you all? I really wasn't too much into the whole wedding planning process. Actually, JM did a lot of it. Isn't that kind of funny?

And just for kicks, this is one from our wedding. JM sang "Wonderful Tonight" to me and played with the band. It was a surprise and really sweet. (and oh, I know it's not a great picture, but I loved, loved, loved, my hair!) It's hard to believe that this was almost 4 years ago - but the last 4 years have truly been the best of my life.

So Congrats to the upcoming weddings! (Now we need some good wedding gift ideas, anyone got any?)

Finished book #3 - The Godmother by Carrie Adams

I finally finished book #3 (my new years resolution) the other day. I read The Godmother by Carrie Adams. It was probably my least favorite book so far. I felt like there were lots of times when I had to read just so I could finish it, if I wouldn't have felt that way, I would have probably stopped way earlier on. From my opinion, there were just way too many characters to keep up, way too many little life messages, and way to much to think about to just even be enjoyable. Now, it finally did get better much closer to the end, but it took a long ways! I did want to know what happened in the end - but I still felt like I was left hanging a bit especially with the main character.
Anyone have any suggestions for book #4? I obviously like girly and light reads! BUT, I do also Jodi Piccoult too!

Happy Sping!

I met a friend for lunch today at the mall and we walked by the cookie place. Ever since I discovered the Cake Wrecks Blog, I constantly look at the cakes now, in hopes that I'll find something. Ha! Well I did today! Happy Sping yall! (and yes, I'm going to try and submit it to her blog!)

Dog Park

Can you believe in the whole 5 years we've had Sophie we've never ever been to a dog park? I'm not sure if there was one in Tulsa or not, and I definitely don't think there was one in Corpus. Well, today everyone must have all had the same idea, because there were tons of dogs there. It was neat to see all the different kinds, and all of them running around, and there "humans" were nice to chat with too!

This is the "Where's Sophie?" picture. Can you find her? Actually, I think she had a blast. Tons of people wanted to pet her and she was loving all of the attention. I had to carry Max the whole time, because every time I let him down he barked like crazy. He definitely needs some social behavior classes.

JM showing off his famous Sophie trick. She can just lay like that forever - that's probably why we say she was our first baby!

And this is why we had to leave. Some of the bigger dogs came over and tried to "play" with Sophie. She got underneath them and rolled over - and we don't know if they scratched her eye or she did it trying to escape, but it started really bleeding. I don't think those dogs were trying to be mean at all, but they were a lot bigger and I think it just really scared her. I told JM they should have a separate area for the smaller dogs. Oh, and the update on Sophie is that her bloodwork tests came back fine. She's been on meds (they ran out now) but I think they may have helped. She has definitely been eating more and been more sociable since. But if she goes off the meds again, I don't know if she'll go back to not feeling well again or not? I might take her to the vet tomorrow to make sure her eye is ok and do a follow up with him. Poor Sophie - once we think she's ok, something else happens to her!

So, I think even with our bad experience we will probably try and go back. Sophie had fun and Max obviously needs to be around more dogs!

Anyway, hope everyone had a great weekend!

Afternoon at the park

Swinging with daddy - this is the most "playing" she did there.

Hey Mom, let's just go shopping instead!

We broke out the flip-flops and sandals! Jenna has squeaker shoes - and sadly, I think she hated them!

Hey friend! Party at your crib tonight?

Happy Spring!

Woo-Hoo!! Today is the first day of spring! Even though it was still cold here today, I honestly don't care. It's technically spring! The start of the spring season always makes me happy. So much to look forward to and now that Jenna is getting older, we will definitely be playing outside a lot more! And oh how I can not wait to take her swimming again this summer - I'm sure she is definitely going to have lots of fun this spring and summer!

Anyway, since Jenna and I were both in matching orange today, I had to get a picture of us. I really didn't plan for us to both wear orange, it just kind of happened - but I thought it was definitely cute and wasn't going to change her!

One of our moms group met at the park today to kick off the first day of spring. Here is Jenna and her friend Madeline.

I can't believe how big she is getting!

Jenna absolutely loves to watch the other kids play and run. I'm sure it won't be too much longer until she is one of the bigger kids running around.

So Happy first day of spring to you all! It is crazy for me to think that last year at this time we had already made a couple of trips to the beach!!

And something fun I just found -

Free Thomas the train coupon at TRU this weekend!

Crown Center and CPK!

So today, our first stop this morning was the Crown Center. I had never been before so it was neat to go and I'm sure we'll probably go back. There was a really neat Crayola store that had tons of fun things that I'm sure we'll have to get Jenna when she gets a bit older! There was also a couple of neat restaurants (they even had a Crayola cafe and one that's in an old train) The restaurants were all packed so we didn't bother to eat there. Anyway, the Crown Center has a Hallmark Visitors Center which you can walk through and see all the old cards, old ornaments, and Hallmark facts. Anyway, this yellow thing is the machine that makes gift bows. You just push the button and it makes the bow and comes out the slot for you in about 10 seconds. It was really neat and hey, we got a free little yellow bow!

Jenna is holding the yellow bow, but I know you can't really see it. (So I thought I should explain why the need for the 2nd picture!)

After Jenna's nap, we went over to the Plaza for a bit. We ate California Pizza Kitchen - so yummy!

And that was our day in a nutshell! I have had visitors since last Friday, so I think tomorrow Jenna and I are going to be a bit lost and not know what we are going to do!

Happy St. Patrick's day!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!! I'm having a bit of a dot com issue, so I don't even know if anyone is reading this, but whatever, I'm blogging anyway!

Remember the Old Navy shirt I got last year after St. patricks day on major clearance? Yes, this is it! She looked so cute today!

Jenna had her first bite of real ice cream today. (She's had dippin dots with us several times at the mall.) She seemed to enjoy it!

Hope you didn't get pinched today!
