A random Thursday post...

We went to the Plaza library for storytime this morning.

After story time, they always do an art project, and this was Jenna's. This is the most she has ever colored! I showed JM and he just said, "We are going to have to keep that!" (I've already kept like 3 other papers that she has colored on. I can see now already that we're not going to ever want to get rid of anything she does. - but, I'm sure this has to do with her being our first!)

And the reason is this is called a random Thursday post.....

***JM completed his ped rehab rotation today and got his evaluation back. He got all superiors (sp?) and received wonderful comments. :)

***Don't forget today is the new oldnavyweekly.com coupons! The last 2 weeks I've missed the really good ones and I'll probably miss them again tonight, but I think there is supposed to be another $75 off $100. I now feel like I shouldn't even shop at ON, unless I have a coupon.

***And here's a random question: How do you blog? JM asked me this last night. He wanted to know what I do first. I always upload the photos and then type around it. He said he does the exact same thing! Does anyone do it any differently??

***Can you believe tomorrow is May 1st already? The months are flying by! I'm excited to start my new book tomorrow. :)

Hope yall have a great weekend!!

A rainy Wednesday

I got sick on Monday and we stayed home all day yesterday. I was excited about going out today to our playgroup, but Jenna had a really runny nose and she's been really congested too, so I thought it would be best to keep her home. OH, and it started raining really hard too, so we stayed home again today. So, I know I haven't blogged in 2 whole days (GASP!) so I might have gone a bit overboard with the photos today.

So, have I mentioned that my child seems to have no problem falling asleep anywhere? Geez, I wonder which one of us she gets that from....(and here's a hint - not me.) This is how she started her afternoon nap. She was just on the floor looking at the magazine and then all of a sudden I look over, and she's sleeping. I actually picked her up and let her nap on me on the couch for a bit, just because I love our cuddle time together lately, and then I went and put her in the crib, and she stayed asleep the whole time.

And today was the perfect day to get out her "new" puppy. JM's dad got this for her first Christmas (when she was 6 weeks) and I've just kept it in the box until I knew she'd be able to play with it. It's called something like "puppy knows your name" It talks and supposedly grows bigger and comes with a CD-ROM that I haven't looked at yet. This is her brushing the dog's hair.

And just because this picture cracks me up. :)

And something a little non-Jenna-ish. Today was also the perfect day to burn candles. I have them all on the main floor and I love them. This is one of my new favorite kinds. It's from Glade and it's a soy based candle. The scent is something like "currents and acai" and even though I don't know what the heck that is, it sure smells yummy! I bought 2 more at Target last week during their gift card promotion and I can't wait to try them out too!

And this is one of my new favorite snack foods (wait, did I say mine?? Because...um...I don't actually eat Jenna's snacks) They are Annie's organic chocolate graham bunnies that I got from Wal-Mart. Seriously, I could eat the whole box. (And, the box was empty, but I just let her play with it to kill more time.)

Even though we've stayed in all week, I can't believe tomorrow is already Thursday! The week has gone by so fast!

Using my JC Penney's coupon + Photos!

Thanks to Amanda B., (the girl that used to live here before us) I get JC Penney's coupons now all the time. I got a $10 off any $10 or more purchase and Jenna needs some new pj's so I knew I could find some for cheap! These are Carter's and they were on sale for $10.99, so after my coupon I only paid $1.07 for them!! I really wish I had more of these coupons! Aren't they so cute?

And later this afternoon, we met up with one of JM's photography friends and we went downtown to take some urban style photos. We got some really cute ones of Jenna! There are so many that I wanted to blog, but I don't want to be a blog hog so JM will hopefully blog a lot of them later, so be sure to check out his blog and tell him how awesome he did!

We had a really great weekend together! Hope everyone else did too!

Little Pink Car goes to Sonic

It was so warm here today that JM suggested we take a walk to Sonic for dinner. Sonic is just down the street from where we live. And no worries, there is a long sidewalk that runs from our house to Sonic and we stayed on that the whole time (so Jenna was never in any car's way!)

Anyway, I think the car is going to be a lot of fun! I think she likes it!

She also loves to push it herself!

I think this is one of my new favorite pics of her. It shows her cute little playful personality well!

And Jenna wishes everyone a happy weekend! :)

The Pink Car

Thanks for your suggestions on what outdoor toy I should get! I ended up getting the Little Tikes Princess Cozy Car in Pink. Yes, pink. I know...I know... I've been so good about trying to get gender neutral things (in case the next one is a boy) but this one was on sale and it was just so cute I couldn't resist!

So, when I came home with it, I was so excited and thought maybe I could try and put it together myself. Ha! Who am I kidding? Am I the only one that has trouble following these types of directions? I just can't seem to do it. Oh wait! See, that metal bar in there. Well, I did do that! But that's as far as I got. We saved the rest for Daddy. :)

Well she does like the wheel and the little horn. Too bad she has to use her imagination right now! :)

And this is what JM accomplished with it last night. I think he may have slightly gotten frustrated with it too, so he didn't finish it but hopefully he'll try and work on it more tonight. Anyway, this picture is from this morning. She likes sitting in there! OH, and that's her with the instruction booklet. Think she's trying to say something? :)

After it's all finished, I'm sure we'll take pics outside! But, anyway, I think it's a hit for now!

Orange for Stellan!

This morning while doing the usual routine of blogs and email, I noticed that several people were wearing orange for Stellan today. So, I decided Jenna had to as well. Today is Stellan's big heart surgery. But, I'm sure you already know that. I was talking to one of my friends in one of our moms group yesterday and we were talking about Stellan and it just leaves me awe of how many people out there all around the world are thinking about and praying hard for this little baby they've never even met. It is amazing what one blog can do.

We are wishing a speedy get well recovery for Baby Stellan!

Finished book #4 - The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs

I finished The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs today. A big Thanks to whoever it was that suggested this one. (Sorry I don't remember.) It was the best one that I've read so far. I was into it from the very beginning and that is definitely quite different than the other ones I've read. And I'm so excited because there is going to be a sequel called Knit Two coming out and I will definitely be getting that one! This one definitely gets a 10 out of 10!

Pet Expo

We went to the Pet Expo today. I thought it would be something different to do and Jenna would get a kick out all the animals. She loved it! It is already evident that she is going to be a huge animal lover, and yes, she still really loves the bigger dogs. I took several pics, but I had to steal JM's today, because they are so much better and I just had to show all the cute animals!

We saw a neat dog jumping into the water contest. (Ok, I'm sure there is a better technical name for this, but I can't think of it.) One of the dogs jumped 26 feet! They also had a timed contest and I think the winner of that one was around 4.3 seconds.

And I thought this was hilarious! The cats were actually playing the guitar, drums, and one was ringing a bell! And yes, they were real cats! I didn't even know you could teach cats tricks?

And the man asked if we wanted to let Jenna sit on the donkey for a photo. She, of course, screamed and didn't want to sit on it, but we tried!

This horse was so sweet! Jenna was interested in him too!

And I had no idea what these even were until the lady told me. They are hedgehogs (and yes, I should have known from the Jan Brett book) but I really didn't. Anyway, there were tons of them and they all their head stuck in these little tubes and running around. She said they loved it!

This lady was letting the bird take the hat off of kids, so we tried it on Jenna. Jenna tried to take the hat off herself (typical Jenna) so it didn't work to well for her.

It was a fun day!

my little pony photo shoot

My little pony came to me today and told me she got her hair did and needed some glam shots. (ha!)

Anyway, I'm trying the whole learn how to be a better photographer thing again, so I took the pony outside and took about 50 shots of her to experiment with aperture and shutter speed. I definitely think I understand aperture - it's the shutter speed that I don't understand as well. Anyway, these were all shot with the fixed 50 1.8 lens.

The first two I'm posting and I'm sure JM is cringing at them. I think we have very different styles (and that's good!) but I like lots of color and him not so much. (I'm sure I overdid the color. I tend to go overboard!)

And the next picture is one that I think I definitely learned from. It was so bright outside today and I don't think the lens needed to be wide open because it was too much light.

Anyway, hopefully this time around I'm going to actually commit to actually trying to really learn!

Deanna Rose playgroup today

We met our playgroup at the Deanna Rose Farmstead today. The farm closes for winter and just re-opened April 1st, so I was excited to take Jenna back now that she is older. We went last summer and even though I know she liked it then, it was so much more fun today with her running around and playing. They have a neat playground area too, and I can just imagine that next year she will be all over that, too.

When we first got there, we met up with these two little guys and they all decided they just wanted to hang out and snack. It's funny because it seems that at every playgroup, they do that together. I think if Jenna sees someone else with food, she decides she wants some too!

She kept sticking her fingers in for the goats. This is a far cry from last year when the first things she did when she saw them was scream! She loved the goats this time!

And yes, she is pulling on the goats ear. That's my Jenna, for you. :)

And they kept trying to eat her clothes. I guess they liked her outfit. :)

Deanna Rose is FREE to get in and she had so much fun that I'm sure we are going to be going there a lot this year.

17 months

Jenna is 17 months today! Every month, I wonder where the time goes and now I think I've realized that she really isn't a baby anymore. She's definitely growing into the toddler stage (well she has been) but her little personality is coming out more and more, and I do have to say that I'm having more fun with her now than ever before.

We went to a children's museum today so these are just a couple of pics from there. It is getting nearly impossible to take her photo with my little camera. It's just too slow, but I just can't see myself lugging around the Nikon every place I go, but I may just have to.

She looked like such a big girl sitting at the table. She would actually crawl into the chair and sit herself. Today was her first time to see play-doh, although she was a lot more interested in the containers and lids than the actual play-doh itself.

This is what I mean about it getting hard to take her picture. She was walking towards me. I "took" the picture a few seconds before she started walking, but of course like I said, it's just too slow for her. But, hey, at least she's looking at the camera.

With it getting warmer outside and Jenna getting old enough to actually play outside, I've been thinking about getting her one of these three things below. Once again, I'm pondering over what to buy and I don't know why I just can't decide on one thing - so that's why I'm asking your opinions. Do you have any one of these? Did your kids like one thing better than the other? Any opinions on any of these? (oh, and the pink tricycle is not the exact same one I saw, but it's similar to one I saw.)
